“The burger with a Beach Mex Twist”

Rubio’s All-American Taco

A hamburger patty has no business being inside a taco. For a chain that is known for their fish tacos, this foray into the American palette is a mistake. Burgers are meant to be on buns for a reason. The hearty bread structure soaks up condiments while still supporting the ingredients. Put these same ingredients in a flour tortilla and you got Rubio’s All-American Taco.

One would think that a cheeseburger with a flour tortilla as a bun would work, but it doesn’t. Everything about this meal was wrong. The beef patty was plain, the cheese was disgusting, and the tortilla soaked through with grease and salsa juice. If this is how Rubio’s plans on expanding into Middle America, then there is no more reason to go to Rubio’s. I’d rather eat McDonalds than have another one of these so-called tacos. Maybe if the meat at least was seasoned, but a regular ol’ patty thrown together with some suspiciously well melted cheese? No thanks.

Rubio’s: You have a chance to bring So Cal style Mexican food to the masses. Don’t mess it up with gimmicks like this. Taco Bell already has that market covered.
